You don't know what it's like,
When you've spent a lifetime on a puzzle
And you've finally figured it out;
It's all becoming clear,
And you reach out,
The second-to-last piece in your hand,
And then the picture changes.
All that work?
Gone.
All those hours?
For nothing.
And you're screaming;
Furious.
Because how dare that puzzle change.
But nobody understands your rage
Because it's just "a new beginning"
Except it's not-it's a lifetime.
And it took a lifetime.
And to start again?
The first time was torture enough.
